Projects
This is a collection of projects I've completed at NIU while working towards my degree in Marketing, minor in Data Analytics, and certificate in Digital Marketing.
Creating a Blog
For my interactive marketing technology course, Professor Gibson assigned us the assignment of creating our own blog and keeping track of the analytics of running a website. It was a lot of fun to create the blog and see how the views would go up and down depending on the type of content I made.
Hillside Digital Marketing Campaign
In my interactive technology course, Professor Gibson challenged us to create a digital marketing campaign for a local restaurant. As a group we chose Hillside Restaurant, because we knew they had been hit hard with the shutdowns of the pandemic. Part of campaign was creating a mock website for the company. My role was to create a TOWS analysis and identity the threats and opportunities of the market in DeKalb. I analyzed Hillside's digital marketing toolbox and recommended necessary improvements to optimize their strategy. Lastly, I designed the main page, menu, about us, and contact on our mock website. I implemented a new online ordering system that previously did not exist.
Our mock website can be found here.
Quantitative Consumer Research
In our market research course, Professor Kaczka assigned this group assignment to research the topic of our choice using qualitative resarch techniques learned. Our group decided to research the impact online studying has had on students in universities. My role in the group was to create survey questions that could be measured in a quantifiable way. I analyzed the data, and was able to draw conclusions for our research paper and presentation. Using Qualtrics, I was able to create impactful visualizations and tell a story using the data we recieved.
Focus Group Presentation
In Fall 2020 in MTKG 443, Professor Kaczka assigned this assignment where I had to conduct my own virtual focus group. The research was to discover the telecommunication needs of consumers. In this project, I created questions that would spark discussion and feelings in the participants . I analyzed their reactions, and was able to draw conclusions for what consumers are looking for in telecommunication services. Using Powerpoint, I created a presentation uncovering my findings.
Hofstede Presentation
In my buyer behavior's course, Professor Prabhaker gave us the task of analyzing a country using Hofstede's 7 dimensions. The group had to use Hofstede's dimensions to analyze a country and how it would compare to the culture in the USA. We chose to analyze India, and we used research online as well as conducting two interviews to give us better insight. I conducted an interview to help our group gain consumer insights about India. I researched the feminine vs masculine traits of India as well as the U.S. I analyzed how these traits would impact marketing strategies of a U.S. marketer marketing to Indian consumers. Lastly, I designed our presentation and created visualizations comparing the different dimensions.
Nike Market Analysis
In principles of digital marketing course, Professor Elina Tang assigned us the assignment of creating a marketing campaign for a product. We conducted a situational analysis and SWOT analysis of Nike. We then created a marketing campaign for the Space Hippie shoe. I research and conducted a situational analysis of the market for sustainable clothing. I audited Nike's website and mobile site. Lastly, I designed our presentation and ensured it fit Nike's branding. We presented this in class and even dressed the part by wearing our Nike gear.
Nike Marketing Campaign
In my principles of digital marketing course, Professor Elina Tang assigned our final presentation. This presentation is a continuation of the Nike Market Analysis. We created digital marketing campaigns and analyzed the current marketing strategy. I research and reported on the situational analysis of Nike. I created a digital marketing strategy. Lastly, I was in charge of creating an Instagram for our hypothetical digital marketing campaign. You can find the Instagram and posts I created here.
Web Design Audit
In principles of digital marketing course, Professor Elina Tang assigned our first group project. Our group did an audit of a "bad" example of a website and a "good" example of the website. We used the lessons from our textbook to determine what makes a good website. This project was the building block for our later projects such as the midterm and final where we analyzed Nike.
